Club Newlands Sleep Over 2013
20/02/2013
On Friday 8 February, over 200 young DHL Stormers supporters (and their moms and dads) descended on Newlands for the annual Club Newlands Sleepover. The event gave Club Newlands members and non members the opportunity to sleep on the hallowed turf of the Newlands pitch whilst enjoying some amazing activities throughout the evening.

The event kicked off in fine style with the children participating in a Virgin Active activity followed by a coaching clinic with the entire DHL Stormers squad. The players put the boys (and a few girls) through their paces teaching them valuable skills such as running from depth and the art of the tackle. The clinic proved not only to be very educational, but loads of fun for all those who were there.

After the clinic the entire group were given the chance to chat with the players and get their highly coveted autographs.

With the DHL Stormers players making their bow; it was time to get ready for a fun-filled evening ahead. Dad’s got busy putting their tents up while the kids played on their field with their new Club Newlands Rugby balls. It was then time to eat with Spur kindly providing all the juniors with burgers as part of a tasty dinner. The father’s had to work a little bit harder for their dinner, but only as much as cooking their Checkers meat packs on the braai's provided by TJ’s Lekka Braai. The evening continued with loads of entertainment in the form of massage area, magician, cartoons and supersport on the big screen courtesy of DStv. No one was left bored on this evening and fun was had right up to bedtime.

After a night of not much sleep, the families were woken to a hearty breakfast provided by Pro Nutro. It was then, unfortunately time for everyone to pack up their tents, make their way through Newlands famous tunnel to collect their goodie bags and head home after what was another brilliant Sleepover at the famous old stadium.

A big thank you must go out to all our sponsors; DHL, Powerade, Castle Lager, Checkers, Virgin Active, DSTV, Bokomo and TJ’s Lekka Braai, Oude Molen, Massage on the beach, Jenman Safari Tents, Bokradio and Spur for their unwavering support. Also thank you to everyone who attended what was another brilliant Sleepover. We hope to see you all back again next year when Club Newlands gives fans yet another chance to sleep under the stars at South Africa’s oldest rugby stadium.
