On Wednesday 29 June over 80 budding young rugby players made their way to WP Rugby’s state of the art High Performance Centre to participate in Club Newlands’ annual Rugby Clinic. The kids were given the opportunity to be coached by the talented coaches for the Western Province Rugby Coaching Education Department to learn some of the most important skills for any rugby player.
One of the undoubted highlights of the event was the fantastic opportunity for the kids to see and meet with the DHL Stormers captain Jean De Villiers.
To make sure the kids were always at their peak energy, Spur and Powerade were on hand to provide everyone with food and drink. A big thank you goes out to DHL, Spur and Powerade and all the other sponsors involved.
Another big thank you goes to Geoff Crowster from WP Rugby development and his coaching team for giving the kids a world class and unforgettable rugbyexperience throughout the three days.
With an abundance of talent on show, there is every possibility that one day these kids could be back at the HPC training with junior and even senior DHL WP and DHL Stormers side. There is one impact we make every year and that is that the clinic was a huge success with all the children having a great time whilst learning the essential technical and safety skills of rugby. Club Newlands would therefore like to thank all the kids (and their parents) forjoining us at what was a fantastic event. We hope to see you all again nextyear to continue your rugby development with the official supporters club of DHL WP and the DHL Stormers.
