A home semifinal would have been one of the main aims for coach John Dobson and the DHL WP U21 team at the beginning of the season and a victory this weekend will secure the team exactly that.
Going into the final weekend of the league portion of the campaign, our boys sit in second on the log with 42 points, 1 point behind league leaders the Blue Bulls. Any victory this weekend will guarantee the team maintain their position on the table. Any slip up by the Blue Bulls, who play the Leopards at Loftus, could also give Province the chance to end the league season on top of the table.
John Dobson’s side will be confident of getting the win on Saturday. They face the Valke who have struggled this season. The visitors have not managed a single victory in the current campaign and can only show one solitary point for their efforts in the 2011 competition. The last time these two sides faced each other, our boys ran out 81-3 victors in Kempton Park so they will be confident of a repeat victory this weekend.
The game is the second curtain-raiser for the Absa Currie Cup clash between DHL WP and the Pumas. The U21 game kicks off at 14:40, with the main game starting at 17:05.
The team is as follows:
Kurt Coleman, Clearance Khumalo, Michael van der Spuy, Berton Klaasen, Tythan Adams, Sam Lane, Fred Muller, Nizaam Carr, Garrick Matthee, Sam Mabombo, Reniel Hugo, Wilhelm van der Sluys, Ruan Smith, Scarra Ntubeni (C), Brummer Badenhorst
Reserves: Neil Rautenbach , Francois van Wyk, JP Smith, JP Swanepoel, Grant Hattingh, Andries Truter, Damian de Allende
